Show
A streaming option only provides a single way to stream a content. However, a movie or a series can have multiple streaming options. This is where the show entity comes in. A show represents a movie or a series. It contains all the streaming options available for that movie or series, grouped by the countries those streaming options are available in. For series, it also contains the season and episode information, including their own streaming options.
A show entity does not only contain the streaming options, but also contains title, release year, description, cast, poster/backdrop links, genres, IMDb/TMDB id mappings, and more!
Here, we will go through an example show entity for the series, House of the Dragon. Season and episode details are omitted for brevity. We also omitted the streaming options since we already covered them in the previous section.

Ways of retrieving the data
IMDb/TMDB Ids
Streaming Availability API maps all the data together from streaming services globally, and detects their IMDb and TMDB ids. That means, by providing just a single IMDb or TMDB id, you can retrieve all the streaming options of the given show globally, as well as the other details, such as cast, images, and more.
Title Search
You can search for shows by a title and get the list of shows matching the query. Here is an example result set for the search query "Harry Potter". It's a live example. Posters, streaming service logos and deep links are fetched from the API. You can click on the posters and logos to visit the streaming service pages. Deep links are localized to the United States. However, when you use the API, you can get the results for any country.
Filtered Search
Filtered search provides one of the most advanced search function to find the exact content you are looking for across the streaming services.
You can filter the search results by:
- Streaming catalogs
Search within a given streaming service or a group of services in a country. For streaming services that provide multiple catalogs, you can specify the catalog(s) you want to search in. E.g. you can only search for shows free to watch via Prime subscription on Prime Video, or shows that are rentable, or shows available on a specific Prime Video channel. For services like Peacock that provides both free and paid premium subscription types, you can specifically search within free shows or premium shows. You can also combine any of these options. For example, you can search within Netflix, Max addon on Hulu, Cinemax channel on Prime Video, and free shows on Peacock at the same time.
- Genres
Search for shows by genres such as Action, Comedy, Drama, Horror, Science-Fiction etc. You can specify multiple genres and can get either the shows that match all the genres or any of the genres. For example, you can search for shows that are both Action and Science-Fiction, or shows that are either Comedy or Romance.
- Original languages
Search for shows by their original language. E.g. search for French movies, German series etc.
- Release years
Search for shows released between a specific year range. E.g. search for shows released between 2010 and 2020.
- Ratings
Search for shows by their ratings, e.g. shows rated 80 or higher out of 100.
- Keywords
Search for shows by any keyword you like. E.g. zombies, aliens, high-school etc.
- Show types
Search for movies, series, or both.
And you can sort the results by
- Popularity
You can choose between all-time popularity or popularity in the last year, month, or week.
- Rating
- Release Date
- Alphabetically
All the results are paginated, so you can get as much data as you need. Here are some live examples of filtered search results:
